Outside Minors
Students may pursue minors and certificates in other schools by contacting the Undergraduate Recorder’s office in the school the minor or certificate is offered and consulting Jim Sizemore, the Undergraduate Academic Advisor. Many cognates complete the minor requirements; please see the respective Recorder’s office to declare the minor.
Minor in Business
Students pursuing a baccalaureate degree on the Bloomington campus may obtain a minor in business by successfully fulfilling the following requirements (courses may not be taken through independent study):
- Complete 26 or more credit hours of college course work that counts toward graduation and be admitted to a degree-granting school.
- Successfully complete the following courses:
- BUS A200*
- BUS K201** (minimum C grade required)
- BUS L201
* BUS A200 note: Students may complete A100 and either A201 or A202 instead of A200 (A100 is a prerequisite for both A201 and A202).
** BUS K201 note: Computer Science majors may substitute CSCI C211 for K201.
- Four of the following five:
- BUS F300
- BUS G300
- BUS M300
- BUS P300
- BUS Z302 or J306
ECON E201 is recommended to round out the student’s minor in business but not required.
Important Note: The School of Informatics requires a grade of C- or higher in each course (except for K201, which requires a grade of C or higher), and an overall GPA of 2.0 in all courses required for the minor.
It is the student’s responsibility to check with his or her individual school to make sure the proper procedures for declaring the minor and completing requirements are followed. Students completing a business minor should fill out an Application for Minor form in the Recorder’s Office of the school in which they intend to graduate in order to have the minor listed on their transcripts.
All 300- and 400-level course work must be completed on the Bloomington campus. None of the course work may be taken by independent study/correspondence, distance education, or “Courses to Go”.
