User Tips and Requirements For Smooth Usage

  • Webcams and mics must not be in use by any other application at that current time or else they will not work
  • Flash 8 or better is needed to use InterviewStream
  • Interview Stream currently supports the following computer/browser configurations ONLY:
    • MAC – OS9 and OS10 with Firefox and Safari
    • PC – XP and Vista with Firefox and IE
  • As you enter InterviewStream and “Get Started” you will have to do a few things:
    • Allow the site to have access to your webcam if you have one built in as well as to your microphone. This can be done by either selecting it on the initial screen or for Mac users, hit CNTRL and click your mouse at the same time to change your settings to allow access.
    • Select the type of webcam and microphone that are used.
    • Mac users, although your webcam is built in, the system will only recognize the camera if the “USB Video Class Video” option is selected for your camera device
    • Mac users, for your microphone, use the “Built-In Microphone” option
    • Once the types of devices are selected, the website will want to do a test for each device.
    • Make sure that the level reading exceeds the bar set in the left-hand side of the screen. You may have to speak at a high volume into the microphone for it to register initially but will not have to speak that loud to continue with the interview.
