What is HiBrow?
HiBrow currently consists of a rudimentary browser and a companion window that records the navigation of the browser it accompanies. Eventually, we have the intention of developing it as a plug-in for Intenet Explorer.

Is HiBrow available for download?
Yes. A protoype version is available for download.

Which operating systems is HiBrow compatible with?
HiBrow was developed to run on Windows XP, although it does run on Windows 98, Me, and NT with some limitations.

How does it work?
Every time a new web page is visited via a hyperlink, or typing in a URL into the address bar, HiBrow adds a new node (dot) to a graph in its companion window. Lines are drawn from left to right showing that a person navigated from one page to another. Any of these nodes can be clicked on to revisit a page.
How do I know which web page a node represents?
If you glide your mouse over the nodes in HiBrow's display window, a thumbnail image pops out from the node along with any annotations made to the web page.

How do I annotate a web page?
While visiting a page, type into the text area below your navigation graph. When you leave that page for another, the text is automatically saved and a yellow sticky note is added to that node. When you glide your mouse over that node, the annotation will pop out along with a thumbnail of that page. (as shown to the right)

Can I organize web navigation?
Yes, in two ways.
  1. Going to the "File => New" menu in the companion window allows you to create a new navigation tab in HiBrow .
  2. Options to copy, paste, and delete nodes are available when you right-click on a node. Note that the nodes affected by an action in the right-click menu are hightlighted in yellow when you hover over the options.

How do I share my navigation history?
To share your history with another person, or to transport it to another computer, go to the "File => Save As" menu. This file can be opened by anyone else using HiBrow.
