Scholarships

The School of Informatics partners with local companies to offer scholarships to deserving students. Below is a list of scholarships available to undergraduate and graduate Informatics students. Many others are available through the IU Office of Student Financial Assistance.

Undergraduate Scholarships

Undergraduate students should complete the Informatics Scholarship Application to apply for the scholarship opportunities listed below. The application deadline for 2009-2010 is June 1, 2009. Please submit your application and any associated materials to Undergraduate Student Services. If you have questions, please contact Richelle Brown, Director of Student Academic Support.

Cecil (Corky) Richmond Scholarship

This award is made to incoming freshman pursuing a degree in Informatics or Computer Science. The four year scholarship provides up to $5,000 per year. Preference is given to Indiana residents and is renewable if the recipient remains in good standing.

Cerner Scholarship (5 awards available)

This $1,000 award is made to a student pursuing a degree in Informatics or Computer Science. Students receiving this scholarship are eligible to apply for and receive this scholarship if the recipient remains in good standing.

CNA Scholarship (1 award available)

This award is made to a student pursuing a degree in Informatics or Computer Science for use in their junior year. Preference is given for students whose home state is Illinois. The scholarship provides $2,500, and is not renewable.

Crowe-Horwath Scholarship (2 awards available)

This $500 award is made to a student pursuing a degree in Informatics or Computer Science. Students receiving this scholarship are eligible to apply for and receive this scholarship if the recipient remains in good standing.

Deans Advisory Council Senior Scholarship (1 award available)

This award is made to a student pursuing a degree in Informatics or Computer Science for use in their senior year. The award provides $1,000 to an outstanding junior that has exhibited innovation, commitment to community service and achieved academic excellence.

Exact Target Scholarship (5 awards available)

This $1,000 award is made to a student pursuing a degree in Informatics or Computer Science. Students receiving this scholarship are eligible to apply for and receive this scholarship if the recipient remains in good standing.

Gibbs Scholarship

This award is made to incoming freshman pursuing a degree in Informatics or Computer Science. The four year scholarship provides $2,500 per year. Preference is given to Indiana residents who have demonstrated or expressed an interest in innovation and entrepreneurship. This scholarship is renewable if the recipient remains in good standing.

Hewlett Packard Scholarship (5 awards available)

This $1,000 award is made to a student pursuing a degree in Informatics or Computer Science. Students receiving this scholarship are eligible to apply for and receive this scholarship if the recipient remains in good standing.

John Deere Scholarship (9 awards available)

This award is made to a freshman or sophomore pursuing a degree in Informatics or Computer Science for use beginning in their sophomore year. The three year scholarship provides $1,500 per year. Preference is given to Indiana residents from underrepresented groups who have a record of academic excellence. This scholarship is renewable if the recipient remains in good standing.

Telamon Scholarship (1 award available)

This is an annual scholarship given in the amount of $2,500 to an undergraduate student pursuing a degree in Informatics or Computer Science for use beginning in their sophomore year. This scholarship is renewable if the recipient remains in good standing. The Telamon Corporation, lead by Albert Chen is the donor.

School of Informatics Chip Scholarship (15-20 awards available)

This award is made to a student pursuing a degree in Informatics or Computer Science for use beginning in at least their sophomore year. The scholarship provides $500-$1,000 per year. Students receiving this scholarship are eligible to apply for and receive this scholarship if the recipient remains in good standing.

School of Informatics Hudson and Holland Matching Scholarship

This award is made to a student pursuing a degree in Informatics or Computer Science that is also supported under IU’s Hudson and Holland Scholarship program for high-achieving underrepresented students. The scholarship provides $2,000 per year. This scholarship is renewable if the recipient remains in good standing in the Hudson and Holland program.

School of Informatics Direct Admit Scholarship

This award is made to an incoming freshman student pursuing a degree in Informatics or Computer Science that exhibits high promise for achieving academic success based on standardized test scores, and an application essay. The scholarship provides $1,000 per year, and is renewable if the recipient remains in good standing.

Graduate Scholarships
