NordiCHI 2006 Workshop (Oct. 15th, 2006):
Improving the Relationship between Research and Practice in Interaction Design

Activities

Date: October 15th, 2006. Half-day workshop. Starts at 1:30pm.

We will have four phases of the activities during the workshop for total 4 and 1/2 hours.

The 1st phase (2 hour and 50 minutes): Introduction to the workshop activities and agenda, and introduction to each other. 8-10 participants who were selected for the 2-page position paper will present their agenda. During this phase, we will have brief questions-and-answers session instead of an intensive discussion session.

Each presenter will present their agenda and experience in a MS PowerPoint form for 10 minutes with 5 minutes of Q&A.

10 minute break

The 2nd phase (30 minutes): All the participants will discuss about the issues related to interaction design practice. The session outcome will be a list of key issues we experience in design practice.

The 3rd phase (30 minutes): All the participants will discuss about the issues related to interaction design research. The session outcome will be a list of key issues we experience in design research.

The 4th phase (30 minutes): This phase will be for identifying the relationship between those two point-of-views. The session outcome will be a list of key issues and new possible approaches which will help us improving the relationship between research and practice in interaction design.
