Indiana University Entertainment Computing Research Group
I co-direct the Entertainment Computing Research Group at Indiana University, with faculty and graduate students from the Schools of HPER, Informatics, and Library of and Information Science. The group examines a diverse collection of issues concerning the design and management of computer-mediated experiences for pleasurable diversion, including social interaction, identity practices, and collaboration in the context of entertainment.
Representative topics include machinima authoring platforms, sexuality and video games, cybersecurity in MMOGs, mixed reality game design, the design of multi-user 3D virtual spaces, relationships between individual games and the online forum/blog communities that form around them, and the design of sport fan participation technologies, among others.
The group meets weekly to share work and collaborate on projects and publications in the domain of entertainment computing.
