Markus Jakobsson
Associate Professor of Informatics and Associate Associate Professor of Cognitive Science
Markus Jakobsson received his M.S. in Computer Engineering from Lund Institute of Technology in 1993; his M.S. in Computer Science from University of California at San Diego in 1994; and his Ph.D. in Computer Science from University of California at San Diego in 1997. He held a joint appointment at San Diego Supercomputer Center and General Atomics during 1996 and 1997, and joined Bell Laboratories as a Member of the Technical Staff in 1997. He was Principal Research Scientist at RSA Laboratories between 2001 and 2004, and adjunct associate professor at New York University from 2002 to 2004. In 2004, he joined Indiana University at Bloomington as an associate professor in the School of Informatics. He is an associate director of the Center for Applied Cybersecurity Research, and an associate member of the cognitive science program at Indiana University. He is a visiting research fellow of the APWG, a founder of RavenWhite, a founding member of RSA eFraud Forum, and a consultant to the financial sector. He teaches on phishing and counter-measures, click-fraud, the human factor in security, cryptography, network security, protocol design, and he likes to cheat. He coordinates the efforts of stop-phishing.com and is a co-editor of "Phishing and Countermeasures" (Wiley, 2006). He has a lot of fun with www.SecurityCartoon.com.
