Innovative Research

Informatics faculty members are involved in research on diverse projects, including:

  • cybersecurity
  • artificial intelligence
  • life sciences

The Informatics Research Institute has two major projects:

  • NSF sponsored Distributed Molecular Database, making available a collection of 3D molecular structures with graphical tools accessible by the Internet
  • IMLS sponsored Cultural Library Indexing Our Heritage (CLIOH), bringing Chichen Itza, Uxmal, Angel Mounds, and other threatened archaeological sites “back to life” in virtual reality

Reversing the Brain Drain

The School of Informatics is committed to economic development in Indiana. The School encourages students to take internships in Indiana and to remain employed in Indiana.
