Research Interests

I am interested in algorithmic and statistical problems arising in genomics and molecular biology. Particularly, I am now working on problems in segmental duplications in genome evolution, fragment assembly in DNA sequencing, MS/MS spectra interpretion and assembly, computational glycomics and glycoproteomics and regulatory genomics.

Biography

Prof. Tang most recently worked with P.A. Pevzner as an assistant project scientist in the Department of Computer Science and Engineering, University of California, San Diego.

He earned his Ph.D. in Molecular Biology at the Shanghai Institute of Biochemistry; between 1999 and 2001 he was a post-doc with M.S. Waterman in the Department of Mathematics at the University of Southern California.

Prof. Tang is a recipent of NSF Early Career Development (CAREER) Award in 2007.
