Biography

Prof. Lim received her Ph.D. at the Institute of Design at the Illinois Institute of Technology (IIT) in Chicago, Illinois, and holds a Master of Design (M.Des.) in Human-centered Design from the same school. She holds a B.S. in Industrial Design from the Korea Advanced Institute of Science and Technology (KAIST) in South Korea.

Her Ph.D. research, conducted under the guidance of Professor Keiichi Sato, concerned the development of the Design Information Framework (DIF) that integrates multiple aspects of design representations as a canonical form for structuring design information. She has conducted several design research projects for the Tangible Knowledge Consortium, which was a research consortium at the Institute of Design, sponsored by several large corporations including Motorola, Steelcase, and Zebra Technologies. She also co-taught several courses at the Institute of Design. Dr. Lim has completed a year of post-doc work at the Indiana University School of Informatics.
