Michael McRobbie

Professor of Informatics
McRobbie is the author, co-author or editor of a number of books and nearly 100 papers, articles and reports. He is a member of the editorial board of a number of international journals and book series in information technology.
He has given numerous invited papers at international conferences and at universities and research institutions around the world. In 2001 this includes keynote or other major addresses at the following conferences and workshops:
- “Internet Workshop 2001: International Workshop on next Generation Internet and Its Applications,” Tokyo, Japan.
- “Terena Networking Conference,” Antalya, Turkey.
- “EDUCAUSE Australia,” Gold Coast, Australia.
- “FUI AMPATH Workshop to Identify Areas of Scientific Collaboration between the US and the AMPATH Service Area," Florida International University, Miami.
- “HPC Asia 2001,” Gold Coast, Australia.
- “EDUCAUSE 2001,” Indianapolis.
His research interests include artificial intelligence, automated theorem proving and computational logic, high performance networking and the non-numerical applications of parallel supercomputing especially in symbolic computation. He is a member of the ACM and the IEEE. He has been PI, co-PI or an investigator on a number of successful proposals that have received grants from funding bodies around the world. Since 2001 he is PI on the following multi-million dollar NSF grants:
- TransPAC: A Performance Network Connection for Research and Education between the vBNS and the Asia Pacific Advanced Network.
- Creating the Digital Music Library.
- Creation of the AVIDD Data Facility: a distribution facility for managing, Analyzing, and Visaulizing Instrument-Driven Data.
He has served as chair, co-chair, or member of the program committees, organizing committees or other committees for numerous conferences including IJCAI, PRICAI, CADE, HPC Asia and IWS.
