Activities

I'm a member of the Data and Search Institute, an interdisciplinary collaboration at the SoI.

Most recently, I've joined the IU Asian Pacific American Faculty Staff Council as a member of the steering committee.  We're just getting started, but have held several receptions (both here at Bloomington and at IUPUI in Indianapolis) and will be hosting a networking coffee hour on March 23, 2007 at IU-Bloomington.

With my colleagues Profs. David Hakken, Eden Medina, and Jeff Bardzell, and U. Chicago PhD student Chris Walker, we organized a February 2006 conference entitled "Informatics Goes Global: Methods at a Crossroads." We hope this successful conference will lead to more conversation and research possibilities on the need to take information research beyond Western borders.

I've also been involved with the Indiana University Women in Computing group.  This group has been a wonderful networking and social resource for students, faculty, and staff in computing at IU-Bloomington.  Check out some of their activities.
