I've been learning to play the cello - IU has one of the best music
programs in the country
, and I've been fortunate to study with a couple of their graduates. Learning to play a stringed instrument as an adult is one of the hardest things I've ever done (and am doing).

FionaMy husband, Glenn Kaufmann, is a freelance writer who specializes in culture, food, the arts, and travel. He reviews theater for the local paper, the Herald Times. Check out his doings at glennkaufmann.com. Other members of the household include Fiona, a miniature dachshund with attitude, and Akira, a snowshoe Siamese cat. And no, they don't get along.

I've been reading about and following tenets of voluntary simplicity for the last few years. For me, living simply means living mindfully and deliberately - making conscious choices about spending, doing, and being. Hopefully, those choices are good for us and our community. I'm more successful on some days than others - it IS a process. Bloomington is a great place to explore Simple Living. We joined a local Community Supported Agriculture (CSA) project last year. We pay a local network of farms at the beginning of the season, and receive a share of the produce each week. One of my favorite sites on the Web is the Simple Living Network. The active discussion forums provide advice on everything from finances to gardening.
