Dear IU Bloomington Computer Science Alumni,
38 years of Computer Science at Indiana University. A legacy greatly deserving of being honored!
Since 1971 the Department of Computer Science at Indiana University has been teaching, advising, and mentoring students. During this time thousands of students have passed through the department and over 700 have earned Computer Science degrees.
In the next few years a number of the faculty who have been the bedrock of the department for so long are likely to retire, starting with Professsor Ed Robertson this year. As a thank you to all past and present faculty and staff who have shaped the Department of Computer Science we are creating “Lindley Legacy Scholarships” to award to future computer science students at Indiana University. The name “Lindley Legacy” pays homage to the birthplace and current home of the Department of Computer Science at Indiana University, Lindley Hall. Each student who receives such a scholarship also will receive information about the history of computer science at IU and the people who made such great contributions to that history.
This is a wonderful opportunity to say thanks to former and current faculty and staff that may have helped or befriended you while assisting current students at the same time. We ask that you please consider giving a gift of appreciation to the Lindley Legacy Scholarship fund. You may designate it to be in honor of a specific individual if you choose.
Please feel free to call Mike Eikenberry at (812) 856-0743 or e-mail meikenbe [at] indiana [dot] edu with any questions or comments regarding our effort to say thank you and help current Computer Science students.
Thank you for your interest in supporting computer science at IU.
Regards,
