Programme
The Systems Biology laboratory at Indiana University School of Informatics attracts those interested in mathematics and computational modelling applied to medicine and biology, and it is well known by its active research programme and seminars.
Professor Santiago Schnell supervises students and works with postdoctoral and senior researchers in the following ways:
Postgraduate studies
We accept students in two categories: Master of Science (MSc) and Doctoral degree (PhD) in the School of Informatics, the Department of Biology and the Department of Physics at Indiana University (Bloomington).
The doctorate is a higher research degree suitable only for able candidates and requires a significant and substantial contribution to knowledge. The length of the course is five years, unless the candidate is already has a relevant MSc degree. The master's is less demanding that the PhD: the normal length of the course is two years.
We encourage our students to pursue their degrees in the School of Informatics. Applications in the PhD category must be made via Indiana University Graduate School. MSc students must apply directly to the School of Informatics. Enquiries should be addressed to Graduate Studies Office at the School of Informatics (graduate@informatics.indiana.edu).
For more general information please visit the School of Informatics Academics Programs website or the Indiana University Graduate School.
Postdoctoral Research
Postdoctoral researchers are typically funded through project grants, although postdocs with their own funding can be accommodated if their research interests fit with those of the Systems Biology laboratory. Please contact Prof. Santiago Schnell for further details.
Senior Academic Visitor
Visitors are typically self-funded. However, there are bodies which may supply funding for visitors to work on projects in collaboration with us. Please contact Prof. Santiago Schnell for further details.
