Informatics East Dedication & Open House
The former Beta House at 919 E. 10th Street was originally dedicated in 1927. It was re-dedicated eighty-one years later on September 19, 2008 as headquarters for the School of Informatics. The celebration included a ribbon-cutting ceremony featuring Founding Dean Mike Dunn, Provost Karen Hanson, Dean Bobby Schnabel, Bloomington Mayor Mark Kruzan, Chancellor Ken Gros Louis, and Dean’s Advisory Council members and building contributors Don Aquilano, Mark Hill, John Gibbs, and Pat Callahan. 2008 IT Career Fair
The 2008 IT Career Fair—held September 16 at the Indiana Memorial Union—drew over 375 IU Bloomington students. At the fair, students had the opportunity to network with 72 employers and 87 alumni, all seeking to fill technology-related jobs and internships. The fair boasted a wide variety of employers for students to choose from, including national companies like Discover, John Deere, and Microsoft, as well as local companies such as Cook, Inc. and Information in Place.
