Research Interests
Database visualization, data mining, and human computer interaction

Education
Ph.D. in computer science from Indiana University in 2002

Current Research Interests

  • Information visualization for databases
  • Database query formulation and processing
  • Human Computer Interaction
  • Data Mining
  • Technology Education
  • Information modeling
  • Projects

  • Query Structure Visualization - This project develops visualizations of the structure of queries - not the data returned by the queries. Through this work we seek to develop a better understanding of data through the questions that are asked of the data.
  • Mobile Visualization of Data - Annotation Project Information
This project couples the generation of visualizations with mobile devices that enable groups of users to collaborate.  We are developing a framework for group annotation of visualizations using new interaction mechanisms with, in particular, tablet PC's.
  • Supporting the determination of fair-use of copyrighted material
The focus of this project is to explore copyright law and fair-use while observing the methods taken by researchers to determine if their work is in accordance with fair-use.- Fair-Use Project Information
